Dear Marion campus students, faculty, and staff,

As we are all aware, there has been an increase in recent months in active shooter incidents involving elementary and secondary schools, and also colleges and universities.  A recently as yesterday there were two more shooting incidents.  One was at the Stevens Institute of Business & Art in St. Louis and one at the Hazard Community and Technical College campus in Hazard, Kentucky.

It is important that everyone have some idea of how to react should an active shooter come onto the Marion Campus.  Unfortunately, most people have little or no training on what to do.  I will continue to work on giving you the best information available on how to remain safe while on campus or even off campus should you be faced with an active shooter situation.

Please take some time to watch the following video.  The video is a little over five minutes long.  Some of you may have seen it in some classes I have spoken to, but if not I think you will find the five minutes it takes to watch this will be time well spent.
