[Heb-NACO] Sefer Tsahot or Sefer Tsahut?

So my source (Uri Melammed) says it should be: Tsahot. I hope that settles it.

I just discovered that there's a poem on p2, presumably vocalized by the publisher, that has the final line "... kera Sefer Tsahot." Even so, I would like to hear what Barry's person has to say. Yes, please, ask.

So, the whole point of this exercise is not so much how to handle this in MARC (though that's important; thanks, Yosi), but rather is to see if we can come to some sort of consensus to facilitate an authority, like we did with the never ending back and forth of tekafo/tokpo.

Thank you all for responding in the volume that you have.

Cheers

B

Bob,
The noun is Tsahut - see Even Shoshan, Alcalay and Milon Ariel ha-makif.

My two cents.

Folks:

I have a recent publication from Mosad Rav Kuk here at my desk which is a republication of a work by Ibn Ezra. The issue is that the vocalization for the key noun is ambiguous and works either way.

The title is Sefer tsadi-het-vav-tav. My inclination is to read that as "tsahut." However, it may also be read as "tsahot," which is grammatical though it seems a less obvious choice. Also, it seems to be the preferred vocalization in OCLC.

Does anyone out there know or have a better sense of what's traditional re. tsahut/tsahot?

Thanks

B
