[Heb-NACO] Creating authorized access points for liturgical works with uncertain dates

Dear Rini, 

I looked in both the RDA Toolkit and the MARC Format to see if there were any guidelines on formulation of dates to liturgical headings (a practice that, as Benjamin has pointed out, neither the PCC nor LC follow). However, the addition of a date to a religious work such as Bible is a core element for differentiation at the expression level (6.24.1). Guidelines for recording a date of expression are found in RDA and LC-PCC PS 6.10.3. The minimal guidelines that are there do not appear to answer your question. 

The only documentation that I have found that provides related instructions of recording dates when differentiating between editions is from LCRI 25.8. Also, guidelines on how to record dates that are uncertain are found in the MARC Authority Format for the 046 field “delimiter k” which tells us to use the $2edtf [Extended Date Time Format]. 

I queried my colleagues in my unit and they did not know of any documentation. 

It appears that this situation was overlooked by the authors and editors of the RDA Toolkit.

The National Library of Israel has begun creating RDA records. In the past, we usually added the date of publication to the authorized access points for liturgical works. When a date was not known, we approximated the date in the 130 and added a 730 indicating that the date of publication was unknown.

I have not found in the RDA Toolkit explicit instructions how to record uncertain dates in access points. It seems that 6.4.1.3 is the appropriate instruction but no examples are given. Due to the quantity of sifre kodesh in our collections, it is important for us to continue recording access points with this information. 

This week we created an RDA record for a braille Haggada: 

130 $a Haggada shel Pesah. $l English (Braille). $f [between 1950 and 1959?]. $$gNew York 

246 1 $a [New York] : $b Published by I. Rokeach and Sons in cooperation with the New York Guild for the Jewish Blind, $c [between 1950 and 1959?]. 

730 $aHaggada shel Pesah. $l English (Braille). $f Without date of publication. $g Without place of publication 

And another record for an undated Hebrew Haggada 

הגדה של פסח. תשכ"-. ירושלים. גור 130

Heidi and other experienced RDA cataloguers, are these access points legal?
