Cultural China/East Asia–cfp
The College of Humanities of Jilin University is planning to host an international conference titled “Cultural China/East Asia：Modern Chinese/East Asian national Consciousness, Globalism, and the Rise of Modern Chinese/East Asian Culture” in July 2-3, 2016 in Changchun, Jilin Province, China.
吉林大学文学院拟于2016年7月2日至3日在中国吉林省长春市主办题为“文化中国/东亚：现代中国/东亚民族意识、全球主义和现代中国/东亚文化的兴起”的国际学术会议。
In this conference, we aim to invite scholars to reexamine and reinterpret the interrelations between China and East Asia’s modernization, Chinese/Asian national consciousness and globalization and their impacts on the cultural and intellectual life of modern China/East Asian from interdisciplinary, multicultural and comparative perspectives. The suggested topics may include, but are not limited to:
本次会议拟邀请中外学者对中国/东亚现代化、民族意识和全球化互动关系在文化和思想领域的反映及其影响展开讨论，作出新的诠释。我们尤其鼓励跨学科、跨文化和比较研究的研究角度和方法。以下是我们建议的若干会议论题（但并不仅限于此）：
---- The historical process of the emergence and diversification of such concepts as “Chinese characters,” “Chineseness,” “characteristics of Chinese culture,” etc., the different, sometimes polarized judgments on such ideas by different intellectual schools, and comparative readings of Chinese culture with the foreign ones;
---- The changing individual and collective identity of Chinese people in the modern age;
---- The entanglement of cosmopolitanism and nationalism in the field of modern Chinese philosophy, literature, arts, and culture in general;
---- The interrelation between historical change and art and literature’s evolution;
---- The rise of modern mass culture and cultural industry in China;
---- The transformation of modern Chinese language and the foreign elements in its changes;
---- The developments of modern disciplines and research norms ;
---- The emergence of modern nationalism and the rise of modern East Asian cultures;
---- The foreign impact on East Asian societies and cultures and the role of cosmopolitanism;
---- The multi-lateral relations between East Asian countries in their cultural renovation;
---- The cross-border and multi-national cultural practice and complexity of modern individual and collective identity;
---- The rise of modern mass culture and cultural industry in East Asia and the relation between culture and market;
---- The transformation of modern Chinese, Japanese and Korean language and the foreign elements in its changes.
---- 近现代中国历史上诸如“中国民族性”、“中国特质”、“中国文化特色”等概念产生、演变和衍生出不同含义的过程; 不同思想派别对待此类概念的态度；以及在与外国文化进行比较的过程中对中国文化特质的界定尝试
---- 近现代中国哲学、文学、艺术和广义文化中世界主义和民族主义的纠结、互动及其影响
---- 近现代历史变迁和文学艺术演进之间的互动关系
---- 中国近现代大众文化和文化产业的兴起
