The Department of Foreign Languages and Literatures at North Carolina
State University invites applications for a non-tenure track three-year,
renewable position in Chinese  Language and Culture beginning August 16,
2014. In addition to teaching and coordinating beginning and intermediate
Chinese language classes, the initial appointment also entails overseeing
coordination of a Hanban funded grant to the University of North Carolina
system to increase Chinese language instruction, which will be
administered through the Confucius Institute housed on the NC State
campus. The successful candidate may also participate in the UNC World
Language Exchange that provides distributed education classes to campuses
in the UNC system where Chinese language courses may be more limited.

Qualifications: Demonstrated teaching experience in beginning and advanced
Chinese; ability to offer linguistics courses or Classical Chinese
courses; and native or near-native fluency in both Chinese and English are
all required.  Language program coordination, administrative experience,
budget oversight, and expertise in distance education technologies are
also desirable.  Applicants with PhD in Chinese Linguistics or a related
field at time of employment are preferred, although those with an MA or
its equivalent will be considered.
