Abstracts are currently being accepted for a panel on Chinese Drama and
Performance at the Rocky Mountain MLA. The 2014 conference will be held in
Boise, Idaho from October 9th - 11th.

This panel is positioned to engage the diversity of Chinese performance
culture from dramatic literature to dance, folk art, storytelling, etc.
The intent is to probe the boundaries of these discrete genres, asking how
Chinese theater has been conceptualized in a number of eras from antiquity
to the 21st century. Ideally, papers would be able to suggest continuities
between modern and traditional dramas that would develop chronologies,
contest them, and bring new materials in conversation with each other. In
keeping with the growth of the field, this panel welcomes papers utilizing
a variety of methodologies to research live performance including
interdisciplinary scholarship.

Please submit a proposal of no more than 250 words to Megan Ammirati
(Meammirati at ucdavis.edu) by March 1, 2014. Notice of acceptance or
rejection will be given by March 30, 2014.
