LOVE yr word choice, Shawn Maeder— those riveting adjectives — and agree with you that the drawing is not bad and am glad they did not use that vapid, victorian jeune fills profile usually favored. Mind you, it does not rival the Woolf in Isota Tucker Epes’s paintings and about that I have a story:

Thanks to the generosity of Isota’s family, I have custody of Isota’s large painting of VW and The Waves (lots of them + text). I wish I had a picture of it which I could send to the list, but it is in California and I am here in Florida for the winter…. but the story is as follows: when the fires broke out in Northern California this fall and we received evacuation orders, guess what I took down (fueled by adrenalin, I guess) and placed into my car to take away from the threatening flames? Yes, you guessed it — not the 6,000 books at The Sitting Room Library(where I get to live), not clothes, not any of those quite replaceable objects, etc. — but Isota’s painting, the one truly irreplaceable possession. And as a kind of bonus, I found that in taking it down and laying it flat in the back of my Honda CRV where it just fit (whew!), I saw the painting from another angle, of course, and fell in love with it all over again. As it happened, the fire did not reach the library or my street or Sonoma State University, so lucky us, but an illuminating experience for

Given all of the rampant, flaming, corrosive, ruinous stupidity in the U.S. at the moment, I feel that if even a handful of people hover over Woolf's image and are encouraged to find out a little bit more about her...that's good enough for me.
