Virginia Woolf and Indigenous Literatures—Extended Deadline

This issue of Virginia Woolf Miscellany seeks essays that consider Woolf in dialogue with works by Native American, First Nations, Australian, and New Zealander authors, among others. Possible topics include food traditions, animal/human relations, urban/rural life, spiritualities, mental health and trauma, ecologies, and so forth. What kind of dialogic emerges when placing Woolf’s writings alongside those of indigenous writers? How might indigenous literatures enhance interpretations of Woolf’s modernist, feminist, and pacifist poetics? How might such comparisons affect or inform understandings of subjectivity in women’s lives and literature, and the interconnections between narrative innovation and socio-political activism? We also welcome other ideas unrelated to the special topic. Please send submissions of no more than 2500 words, including notes and works cited, to Kristin Czarnecki, kristin_czarnecki at georgetowncollege.edu. Deadline for submission: EXTENDED: July 31, 2017.
