All,
In preparation for the upcoming Smith Lecture, contact was made this morning with CampusParc to clarify what steps need to be taken to allow a vehicle to stay in the PRB loading dock for an extended time period.
Steps to arrange for an extended vehicle stay at the dock area are as follows:
1.) Collect vehicle type/description (examples red Nissan Sentra; white Ford pickup truck; blue service van with logo)
2.) Collect the license plate number (example: BR549 - Ohio)
3.) Determine the time frame of the extended stay (example: 2:00 to 4:00 Wednesday, June 12th)
4.) Transmit this information to the department Building Coordinator, Mark Reed.
Once this info is in hand, the Building Coordinator, and ONLY the Building Coordinator, can send an e-mail to osuinfo at campusparc.com<mailto:osuinfo at campusparc.com>.
I specifically asked if any "official" of the Department could send such a note and was told that they will only accept submissions from the nominated Building Coordinator.
Invoking an extended loading dock stay should not be for convenience only and should be avoided altogether to the extent practical.
The Building Coordinator is expected to filter and reject requests for frivolous or convenience only scenarios.
Examples of acceptable circumstances you may encounter are as follows:
Example 1: A service vehicle that needs to be frequently visited during the stay and which cannot be easily offloaded. (large tools, caterers with heat boxes, blood drive vehicles, etc.)
Example 2: A visiting dignitary (Funding agency representatives, Congressional delegations, Significant Donors, etc.)
Example 3: Surviving spouses, family, or others coming to collect personal items on behalf of a decedent.
Please let me know if you have any questions or have plausible scenarios other than the examples given that should be considered.
Regards,
Phil Davids
