Third and Final Notice:

***********************************

In coordination and consultation with the University, the University Energy Partners and Contractors, the Physics Chair's Office, and Physics Research Lab Groups, the dates of October 19 thru October 22 have been selected for a four-day steam outage.

This outage will include physical modifications to the campus main steam supply that will require the line to be fully shut down and cooled to ambient conditions.

With the main steam supply offline, the only heating sources present in the building will be limited to heat from equipment, heat from occupants, and residual heat present at the time of shutdown.

The contractors will take all practical measures to compensate for this loss of primary heat source to limit temperature drops in the building to the extent possible.

However, occupants should plan for and expect offices to be cooler than normal and labs to have temperature and humidity control limitations.

The Project Team and the Department acknowledge that this outage will impact occupant comfort and in many cases the ability to conduct research and have carefully selected dates that will help minimize negative consequences.

It is noteworthy that two of the four days are on a weekend and that the University Energy Partners willingly agreed to do this to help reduce the impact to PRB occupants.

The Department asks for the patience and understanding of all occupants while the University completes this necessary, unavoidable, and important work related to its overall goal of campus-wide energy reductions.
