Hiring process changes - effective January 1, 2015

To all faculty and staff who hire postdocs, graduate students, undergraduate students and staff -

This information was sent to all from Physics HR previously on Dec 23.  Due to the fact it was close to the holiday, you may not have noticed it.  I am sending again and ask you to give it your complete attention.   The bottom line is that beginning January 1, 2015 lead time of ten (10) business days will be required prior to the hire of any individual for any job - faculty, staff, postdoc, graduate student, or undergraduate student.  HR is requiring this so that there no disconnect between the hiring date and the required reporting to federal agencies as part of the Affordable Care Act.  Failure to comply may result in very sizable financial penalties to the university.

It is our desire to minimize all exceptions, including hiring exceptions.
