[OACRAO] Legal Name Change

We allow a legal name change on the transcript only until the student has graduated.  If they provide documentation of a legal name change in the future – we will provide a replacement diploma (for a fee) and can list on the transcript  - aka – “new name”.  We will not change the permanent academic record.  Our alumni/development office also uses Banner but not the same base page; so we have not had any issues with their processes of changing names impacting the student name.

As an individual new to OACRAO and Banner – I appreciate this groups willingness to share information and ask interesting questions.

Gang, thanks for the quick replies. I will share that we always change the name when legally changed. Our challenge was that since alumni use our data base, they were changing names without documentation. It was hard to tell sometimes what a person's name was so we decided to print the diploma name too. When it is different, then the maiden name will show.

The feedback so has been great and of course has my wheels spinning.
