So basically Mo Yan keeps to himself so that he can stay alive and
prosper. He says nothing during the Tiananmen massacre since he does NOT
want to get involved in POLITICS.

And "He thanks the military..... ", even though the PLA killed many
citizens during the massacre.

By the same logic, Mao thanked the Japanese for invading China, otherwise
CCP would have been crushed by the
Nationalist army.
