I guess it will be Yerid (if we love it or hate it)

I might send a question to the Academy.

Another Romanization question (those who dislike/disagree with the act of Romanization can please feel free to disregard this email):

The word is יריד, a fair. The current E-Sh. Romanizes it only with a sheva na, making the word “yerid”. The same for the case of semikhut, יריד-, a sheva under the first yod. The Alcalay at my desk (1996) has two forms of entry, the first with a kamats followed by the form with a sheva, and the word with a sheva in the case of semikhut. (Morfix online has only with a kamats.) Are we considering this a changed Romanization? Is it now “Yerid omanut Yehudit” and “Yerid ha-ben-leʼumi le-Yudaʼiḳah”, as opposed to the former “Yerid omanut Yehudit” and “Yarid ha-ben-leʼumi le-Yudaʼiḳah”?

Please advise. Thanks, Jasmin
