The Library of Congress will upgrade its Integrated Library System (ILS) starting at 12:00 noon on Friday, February 14, 2014; the upgrade is expected to last approximately one week.

The ILS upgrade will cause a temporary delay in the distribution of bibliographic and authority data to the utilities that PCC members use.

What does this mean for PCC members?:

NACO AUTHORITY RECORDS:

New and updated NACO authority records may be contributed through the NACO utilities during the ILS upgrade. However, these records will not be distributed to all the NACO nodes until after the ILS upgrade is completed. This means that new and updated NACO records contributed during the ILS upgrade will not be visible to all NACO members until after the redistribution following the completion of the upgrade. Please take this delay in the normal NACO distribution cycle into account in your NACO work.

Following the completion of the upgrade, all contributed NACO records will be distributed by the Library of Congress and made available for utility users.

Please also refer to any special announcements from your utility about NACO work during the week of the LC ILS upgrade.

BIBLIOGRAPHIC RECORDS:

Files containing new and updated bibliographic records from the Library of Congress will not be distributed during the upgrade process. This means that no new and updated Library of Congress bibliographic records will be added to the utilities during this time period. Regular distribution of bibliographic records will resume with the redistribution following the completion of the ILS upgrade.

LCSH AND LCC PROPOSALS AND PROPOSED UPDATES CONTRIBUTED THROUGH THE SACO PROGRAM:

SACO work will not be affected by the ILS upgrade.

Please contact the Policy and Standards Division at the Library of Congress ( policy at loc.gov ) for any questions related to PCC work during the time of the LC ILS upgrade.

Thanks,

Paul
