[Heb-NACO] romanization of the day?

I didn’t find any examples in the bible concordance with the root ערך, but did find several examples with the root  עבד (ayin bet dalet), all of which have vav with patah (Deut. 15:12, Jer. 34:14, Ex. 21:6, etc.)

The vowels shift as the stress of the word shifts.

kāTAV--stressed on the last syllable (he wrote)
kāTAVtī--stressed on the next to last syllable (I wrote)
ketavTEM--stressed on the last syllable--notice that the long vowel of the first syllable, when it's two syllables away from the stressed syllable, reduces to sheṿa (you plural wrote)

kāTAVtī--stressed on the next to last syllable (I wrote)
ketavTIṾ--stressed on the last syllable--again the long vowel of the first syllable reduces to sheṿa when it's two syllables away from the stressed syllable (I wrote it)

with an initial guttural, ʻarakhTIṾ (I edited it) first vowel is hatef patah, so a ṿaṿ before it will take patah:  ṿa-ʻarakhTIṾ (and I edited it)

Yes, no doubt there are errors in all our databases, but think hard before you "correct" them.

Ok, I think I know what happened:  'arikhah is vocalized with a hataf-patah, so ועריכה is vocalized va-'arikhah.  You and Barry are right that the pa'al form of ערך is with a kamats, so a simple combo of, say, חיבר וערך would be hiber ve-arakh.  Joan, is that right?

All 18 results of a וערך search in LC's cat bring up "ve-arakh"; a "va-arakh" search retrieves 12 hits, while a "ve-arakh" search retrieves 679 hits.  the וערכתי search retrieves 52 hits, a majority of which are romanized "ve-arakhti" with a few exceptions of "va-arakhti". a "va-arakhti" search has 16 hits while "ve-arakhti" has 154 hits.  Joan, should the 12 "va-arakh" and 16 "ve-arakhti" titles be fixed?

Time to check my catalog...  :-)

No, a vav that comes before a letter vocalized with a hataf takes that vocalization.  In this case, the ayin of arakhti is vocalized with a hataf-patah, so the vav is vocalized with a patah.

The whole phrase "ha-Honen le-Adam Da'at" is capped, because it is a name consisting of a phrase, sort of like "She Who Must Be Obeyed," "Father Time," or "Calamity Jane" (AACR2 rule 22.11A).

I can answer the second one more easily as it comes from the 'amidah: it's le-adam, not la-adam. (why would adam and da'at be capped?)
