I'll let someone else field the Li-fene question, but as far as Pitedah
is concerned: there's a sheva there because tet and dalet are both
dentals, per the practice noted on p. 11 of Maher in the case of
"mitpalelim." I suppose that would be a sheva na'. The sheva is our
friend, and it's here to help.
