class meeting time, extending class

I will discuss the following during the first lecture as well.

July 4th is on a Sunday and the following Monday, July 5th, is a university holiday.

This means we will lose a lecture. I would also like to be able to use the very

last lecture (the Friday before our Tuesday final) as a review and not give new

material, or at least not a lot, that day. This means we have a couple of choices

to make up for the "lost" time.

Let me give the following scenarios. If anyone objects to either or both of these

let me know.

option 1: Meet the scheduled time 10:30-12:15 and just go a little

                faster. We're already going to be moving pretty quickly.

                I don't think going even faster than I would have to if we

                 we're missing a lecture is helpful.

option 2: add 5 extra minutes to the end of each lecture, ending at 12:20

                instead of 12:15.

I prefer option #2. We don't have to try to cram even more material into each

lecture and I might be able to get things done to use the last lecture, or at least

part of it, as a review. Otherwise our review would be Sunday two days before

the final.

Plus remember, I have pre-recorded lectures in Carmen and will be posting the

Zoom lectures so if you had to miss those extra 5 min at the end you'll still be

able to view it later. It also means I could give a few minutes about halfway

through lecture to take a quick 7th-inning stretch.
