Chris: Not in last 2 years but we had few cases in 2007. Adult cattle were the ones with signs and less than 1% in a herd(s) showed clinical signs with oral lesions and or lameness with hot coronary bands. Typical recovery period was roughly 2-3 weeks is also my recollection. This also coincided with deer going positive for EHD in and around our state.
We were expecting virus to find a foothold after this break but our hard winters must have taken care of this. Illinois and SD findings are interesting from geographic location standpoint.
Best to all this season!
Thanks,

Subject: [ACVM] EHDV in Cattle
We are just finishing up a manuscript on the 2012 and 2013 outbreak of Epizootic hemorrhagic disease virus in cattle in South Dakota. We did not see any cases in 2014 or 2015. In contrast to the Illinois cases (JAVMA 247:190-195, 2015) we saw almost 0 mortality. However like the Illinois it was only seen clinically and serologically in adult animals. Has anyone had any cattle cases in the last 2 years? If you had experience with EHDV in cattle in the past, what was the age distribution? Thanks for your time and best wishes for a blessed holiday season.
Chris
