Call For Submissions for the new Undergraduate Journal of Service Learning and Community-Based Research The Undergraduate Journal of Service Learning and Community-Based Research is a multi-disciplinary online undergraduate journal open to all undergraduate students. The journal is dedicated to publishing the intellectual and reflective work by undergraduates on service learning and other research-based community engagement activities. Submissions will be accepted from now through June 30, 2012. Call for Papers: Service-Learning in the Humanities The Fall 2012 issue of the journal Interdisciplinary Humanities will be a special issue on service-learning in the humanities. The editors welcome submissions of articles, essays, and reflective pieces on service-learning from various points of view: students, faculty, agency mentors, and higher-education and non-profit community administration and staff. Documents may focus on studies, theory, practice, interdisciplinary collaboration, and school-community partnerships as they apply to service-learning. Call for IARSLCE Editorial Fellows extended to Feb 14th The International Association for Research on Service-Learning and Community Engagement (IARSLCE) has extended the deadline of the Call for Applications for the 2012/2013 Conference Proceedings Editorial Fellows. The Editorial Fellows (EF) program is in its second year and is a professional development opportunity for graduate students interested in community engagement. EFs will participate in co-creating the IARSLCE Conference Proceedings. This includes practicing shared decision-making, effectively and appropriately communicating with an international group of colleagues, exploring the multiple roles and responsibilities within editing projects, and encouraging and supporting learning outcomes identified by each individual EF. The deadline for applications is February 14th. AAAS Community Extension Center presents The Legacy of Julius Nyerere Julius Nyerere, one of Africa's most respected figures, was a politician of principle and intelligence. Known as "Mwalimu", or teacher, he had a vision of education and social action that was rich with possibility. Nyerere served as the first president of Tanzania (previously Tanganyika) from the country's founding in 1961 until his retirement in 1985. View the story of his life at the African American and African Studies Community Extension Center at 905 Mount Vernon Avenue, Columbus, Ohio 43203. The film will be screened on Tuesday, February 14, 2012 at 6:00 p.m.
