[OHIOBWG] OBWG Bat Week Video Series and NEW Website!

Hello OBWG Members!



As many of you are already aware, National Bat Week<https://batweek.org/> is fast approaching (October 24-31, 2020)!  Last year, Ohio government officially recognized the week<https://cpb-us-w2.wpmucdn.com/u.osu.edu/dist/d/89460/files/2020/06/bat-week.jpg>, so this year, members of the Ohio Bat Conservation Plan's Education and Outreach Committee wanted to provide some Ohio-specific resources.  We have created the Ohio Bat Week Video Series<https://u.osu.edu/obwg/batweek/>, which features 9, 15-minute videos on a variety of topics - bat habitat, Ohio species, threats the Ohio bats, how to help bats, what to do if you find a bat (single bat or colony), and more.



I want to give special thanks to everyone on the Education and Outreach Committee and to Jen Denison for leading us, but I especially want to thank the authors of the videos: Sarah Stankavich, Danielle Thompson, Melissa Proffitt, Cindy Maravich, Tammy O'Neil, and Rick Shears. All worked very hard to produce these videos, which if you've never done before, takes more time that you'd think.


In addition to the videos, we are also ready to launch the NEW Ohio Bat Working Group website<https://u.osu.edu/obwg>, with information for landowners, land managers, homeowners, and educators on Ohio bats. Check it out and let us know what you think! The Bat Week videos are under the 'Bat Week' tab, along with a few events going on around the state.
