M.S. graduate position in bat acoustics and invertebrate response to prescribed fire management

I am seeking a highly qualified M.S. student to conduct a funded research project examining the bat community’s response to invertebrate populations as it relates to prescribed fire management in the southern Appalachians. The research project will involve extensive sampling and analysis of invertebrates and bat calls in Alabama’s Talladega National Forest. One year of invertebrate and acoustic data has been collected and the student will conduct a second sample period in summer 2021. The project will involve long periods of time in the field during the summer, with the rest of time in the lab sorting invertebrate samples and analyzing acoustic data. Research funding via the U.S. Forest Service is available for a summer research stipend, field travel, supplies, field/lab assistant, and attendance at a bat acoustic data training workshop. The student will be expected to apply for a graduate teaching assistantship during the academic year. The selected individual will enroll in the graduate program of the Biology Department<https://urldefense.com/v3/__https:/nam05.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https*3A*2F*2Fwww.westga.edu*2Facademics*2Fcosm*2Fbiology*2Fms_program-overview.php&data=04*7C01*7Ctccarter*40bsu.edu*7C825fd06571084a86628408d874431c83*7C6fff909f07dc40da9e30fd7549c0f494*7C0*7C0*7C637387178892946071*7CUnknown*7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJWIjoiMC4wLjAwMDAiLCJQIjoiV2luMzIiLCJBTiI6Ik1haWwiLCJXVCI6Mn0*3D*7C1000&sdata=fOWzl37d22T4SRCZHAfa8yjuT9FJkBAOD9*2FyM3Dii1Q*3D&reserved=0__;JSUlJSUlJSUlJSUlJSUlJSUlJSUl!!KGKeukY!h6XpkWiE5rVasNHssthcCy0nEd7HxiNEa7mkSlFQnGxUYT3yr5-50EHH8BNUSP_YOd4$> at the University of West Georgia for spring semester 2021.
