Hello again fellow bat buddies,

It's hard to believe that in exactly two months Cincinnati Museum Center's annual BatFest will be held at Cincinnati Zoo and Botanical Garden.

I have received quite a few questions about this year's different format and so I wanted to take this opportunity to answer a few of the top questions here.

- Cincinnati Zoo and Botanical Garden does not allow live animals to enter their zoo. This ensure protection of the animals that call the zoo home. However, the zoo is graciously allowing BatFest partners to bring jarred and/or pinned bats to display.

- The majority of the festival will take place in the zoo's Peacock Pavilion. There is a lot of room for hands-on, educational activities and games in this round, (well lit) "cave" like structure. However, there is a possibility to use other locations, including Night Hunters, World of Insects, Wings of World, and a lecture space, if any of these spaces would work better for your organization.

- Due to zoo policy, no outside groups or partners are allowed to sell on the zoo grounds. This covers anything from food to merchandise. However, they have made a few provisions for samples. Feel free to contact me if that applies to your organization and I will be happy to talk to you on an individual basis.

- BatFest tables do not have to focus solely on bats but they should tie to bat culture in some way. For example, you may choose to focus on comparing different types of wings or nocturnal animal adaptions. A diversity of subject matter and activities are always encouraged as we celebrate the bats among us far and wide.

I hope this answers your big questions. Feel free to send me any additional questions.

Don't forget applications are due on February 28th.

I look forward to speaking with you soon and seeing you on April 1st!

Thanks,

Gwen Elliott
