Folks: THIS WEBINAR IS NOT HAPPENING TODAY!!! I just talked with Susan Loeb and she said this was sent out by mistake. This was the webinar she gave in July and someone changed the date and sent it out for today and Susan didn't know about it and has a conflict at the time. Folks can follow the links to her PowerPoint presentation. I know this isn't the same as a webinar, but it is the best we can do at this point.
Thanks to Dana Hartley with FWS for pointing out to me the webinar was not listed in upcoming events on the web link. That's what prompted my call to Susan Loeb.
Robyn: Will you please send this out to the NEBWG list. That is where I first saw the announcement.

Folks: This webinar is this Friday and it looks to be an excellent opportunity. If you click on the "learn more" link below it will take you to a site where Susan Loeb's PPT presentation is posted so you can see what will be discussed. Prescribed burning, thinning, and providing early successional habitat will all be discussed. This could be critical information given the potential listing of northern long-eared bat. Please share this with your district bios.

Bats in the eastern U.S. are experiencing significant declines due to disease, wind-turbines, and loss and fragmentation of their forested habitats related to urban development. Climate change may also impact their populations and distribution. U.S. Forest Service Research Ecologist Susan C. Loeb, will discuss the plight of different bat species as well as the results of recent studies on the effects of forest management and other disturbances on their populations and how forest management can be used to create habitat. Before connecting to Blackboard Collaborate for the first time, make sure to complete the Configuration setup. You MUST do this at least 72 hours ahead of time. Please use the same location and equipment that you will use when you attend the actual Blackboard Collaborate session(s) to complete the following steps:
1. Go to http://go.ncsu.edu/configuration.
2. Make sure Step 1 shows two checks. If you do not see a check, follow the instructions to obtain the latest version of Java.
3. Enter the Configuration Room as outlined in Step 2. Follow the directions in the Configuration Room to test your audio setup, set your connection speed, and set up your profile.
