KDFWR is hiring a 9-month technician for the bat program. Duties include, but are not limited to, the following: mist net and acoustic surveys of WMA’s and other properties, hibernacula counts, maternity counts, acoustic driving transects, and data entry. Qualified applicants should currently hold or have held in the recent past a federal and state permit for bats, be able to identify all 15 species of bats that occur in Kentucky in-hand, have some experience with acoustic detector systems and acoustic identification programs, some experience with hibernacula counts, and can work independently at night. Applicants should be available to work weekends, nights and operate a 4x4 vehicle. This position will start on December 1 and will go to September 1.
