Hi All,

FYI - I’m the Chief Learning Officer with the Thomas Jennings Open Learning Village an online entity that provides professional development and personal interest courses to lifelong learners. One of the courses that we provide online - at no cost - is our Fiscal Fitness: Financial Literacy course. The course does not provide any academic credit and we do not track or sale student information. The next course begins on February 15, 2016. Here’s a description of the modules that are presented via an instructor-led format

Course Goals and Objectives:

1. The goal of this course is to familiarize the student with information regarding personal finance management. It also provides basic knowledge of money, savings, credit and credit reports, debt and debt management as well as budgeting. The information obtained from the course content should help the average individual become more aware of his/her personal finances and how to develop and manage a budget.

2. The course is presented in 6 modules.

Module 1, Understanding Everyday Finances. This module provides the student with general knowledge about personal finances and money. It answers the question, "What is money?" This module also explores the basics of personal finance as a prelude to savings.

Module 2, Simple Savings. This module introduces the student to the importance of saving and how starting a small savings account can lead to something greater.

Module 3, Understanding Credit and Your Credit Score. This module provides basic information about credit the credit score and the importance of protecting and maintaining a good credit score.

Module 4, Debt and Management. This module provides basic information about debt and debt management strategies.

Module 5, Basic Budgeting. In this module the student will become familiar with budgeting terms and the components necessary to construct a budget. The student will also understand why budgeting is important in the overall personal finance strategy.

Module 6, Budget Plan Creation and Presentation. The capstone of this course is the students construction and presentation of a basic budget using a modality of choice.

The idea behind the Ambassadors is to attract a variety of different students to represent the Center and generate buzz across campus and within their own personal networks. It is also a great starting position for someone considering joining the leadership team but who has not been exposed to the Center before.

> Have any of you utilized work study students to write blogs for your financial literacy programs?? If so, do you have a job description you would be willing to share? I would like to have students do blogs to their peers (with proper supervision) through our social media. I am hoping this will peak their students' interest so they would participate in the other programs we hope to offer.
