Shenzhen CRISPR babies
Twins have been born in Shenzhen who were genetically modified as embryos. The experiment -- whose claimed therapeutic purpose appears to have been a fig-leaf, and for which it is not clear that the parents gave informed consent -- was conducted with little if any discussion in the Chinese biomedical community, which is voicing condemnation.  It will be interesting to see whether there is an official response from the central government. This takes "Made in China" to a new level.
