CFP - Journal of Chinese Cinemas
Special Issue on Ecocinema
The Journal of Chinese Cinemas would like to present a special issue on "Chinese Ecocinema.” Ecocinema means films with a strong ecological consciousness, or refers to the heuristic interpretation of films from ecocritical perspectives. Essays could explore a variety of related topics in Chinese feature films or documentaries, such as the relationship between humans and non-humans; the relationship between humanity and the environment, nature, and earth; humanity in the Anthropocene; models of sustainable modernity; and landscape aesthetics. Studies on films and documentaries made in or about any Chinese-speaking region are welcome.
Please send abstracts of 300 words by March 1, 2016 to Sheldon Lu (shlu at ucdavis.edu) and Song Hwee Lim (shlim at cuhk.edu.hk); selected abstracts will be invited to submit full manuscripts (8000 words maximum) by June 1, 2016 for consideration of inclusion in the special issue.
