Datong strikes a nerve in HK (2)
Both Kang’s daughters: Tongbi and Tongwei were achievers. Tongwei assisted him in his research relating to the Meiji Restoration and edited newspapers while Tongbi served as his propaganda machine in Western countries. However, despite Kang’s ‘gender equality’ views, he took several concubines in his life. Kang Tongwei and Kang Tongbi’s biographies can be found in Biographical Dictionary of Chinese Women: The Twentieth Century.
