 Lu Xun and Western Science and Culture
The Dusseldorf 6th Academic Forum
of the International Society of Lu Xun Studies
The Dusseldorf 6th Academic Forum of the International Society of Lu Xun Studies wil be held from July 1 to July 3, 2015 in Dusseldorf, Germany. The forum theme is “Lu Xun and Western Science and Culture.” The Forum is jointly organized by the International Society of Lu Xun Studies, Confucius Institute of Dusseldorf University, and the Global History Research Center of Beijing Foreign Studies University.
We invite scholars to share unique perspectives on LuXun Studies, especially considerations of the relationship between Lu Xun and Western Science and Culture. Attending the forum will be representatives and renowned experts and Sinologists from America, Asia, Australia, Europe and elsewhere. We anticipate that the forum will be vibrant and dynamic, and provide a valuable opportunity for the participants to exchange ideas and strengthen international and cross-disciplinary cooperation.
Please observe the following:
1. The overarching theme of the forum is “Lu Xun and Western Science and Culture”. Variations on this theme are also welcome, such as “Dialogues between Lu Xun and Western Culture” or “Dialogues between Lu Xun and Eastern Culture,” or “Lu Xun’s Conception of Cultural dialogues between East and West.”
2. The forum will be conducted in English and Chinese.
3. Forum Dates: July 1—July 3, 2015. (Participants should arrive at Dusseldorf University before the morning of July 1, 2015. The Forum will be held from the afternoon of July 1 to the morning of July 3. In the afternoon of July 3,we shall organize a sightseeing excursion.)
4. Venue: Dusseldorf University
5. Please note that the deadline for submission of paper abstracts (about 300 words ) is May 9, 2015. Please be punctual. The submission deadline for complete papers is June 15, 2015.( MS word electronic copy by e-mail)
6. Presenters will be responsible for their own international travel fees. Three nights’ free accommodations will be offered by the forum organizers. The number of speakers will be limited to 25.
7. We welcome audience attendees to attend the forum on their own expenses. If you plan to attend as an audience attendee, please send a letter of notification.
8. Formal acceptance invitation letters are expected to be sent out around the middle of May, after joint review of submission abstracts by the International Society of Lu Xun Studies, Confucius Institute of Dusseldorf University, and the Global History Research Center of Beijing Foreign Studies University.
