Assistant Professor in Japanese Literature and Cultural Studies

Position Description:
The Department of Modern Languages and Linguistics at Florida State University invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor in Japanese Literature and Cultural Studies, to begin August 2015. We welcome applicants with a broad range of research interests, and we are especially interested in scholarship that transcends traditional disciplinary boundaries and/or engages multiple historical periods or cultures. Additional research areas may include digital humanities and translation studies.
Qualifications:
Candidates should have a record of, or demonstrated potential for, distinguished scholarly research, and be committed both to excellence in teaching and to enhancing the department’s programs at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. Near or near-native proficiency in Japanese and English is required. PhD is required at the time of appointment.

Applicants should submit a cover letter, curriculum vitae, research statement, writing sample, teaching statement, sample syllabi, and three letters of recommendation electronically through Interfolio.
