Rocky Mountain Modern Language Association Annual Meeting
Panel: Translating Chinese Poetry

We are soliciting paper proposals for a broad-based discussion of the
translation of Chinese poetry. Our hope is to examine works from both
modern and pre-modern eras, exploring commonalities and divergences
between these two literary contexts specifically from the point of view of
translation practice. Possible areas of exploration could range from
theoretical concerns such contemporaneity and global or world literature,
cultural, or socio-historical considerations in translating political,
religious or spiritual language across time and space, to more targeted
discussions of reference notes and other textual issues.

Please submit a proposal of no more than 250 words by March 15, 2014.
