I have encountered a reference to the 1980s and perhaps the early 1990s as
the age of the New Literature (新文学, perhaps in a conscious echo of the 新
文化 
movement of the early Republic).  A friend tells me that many informal
literary asssociations hosted extremely well-attended open readings in
those years. Can any list members refer me to a history of this movement?
I am interested in the character and role of the associations and the
style of their meetings.
