Rocky Mountain Review Call for Papers for Special Issue for Fall 2014
"Theorizing Space and Gender in the 21st Century"

The Rocky Mountain Review, the peer-reviewed journal of the Rocky Mountain
Language Association, invites articles for a special issue on the topic of
"Space and Gender," guest-edited by Theda Wrede, Dixie State University.
We are seeking scholarship that addresses the question of how the
theorization of space informs gender studies, and how gender concerns
enrich spatial studies, particularly as they intersect with literary,
cultural, film, and pedagogical research. Essays may respond to, but are
not limited to, the following questions: How do women, including women of
color, conceptualize space, particularly hybrid, border, and marginal
spaces, against a backdrop of increasing globalization in the 21st
century? In turn, in what ways might spatial studies inform postcolonial
and minority women's writing and film to negotiate the gendering of space
that is a legacy of colonial conquest? How can spatial studies contribute
to ecofeminism in formulating environmentally sensible principles? How do
theorizations of space and spatiality influence teaching practices in the
21st-century literature or film studies classroom?

guidelines for submission. All manuscripts should be received by January
12, 2014 to be considered for this issue.
