As far as I can tell, the uncorrected proofs of The Waves in the Smith College Library are not accessible online. If I’m wrong, and they are available, could someone point me in the right direction? The Shakespeare Head and Cambridge editions both make use of the proofs, but of course that isn’t the same as looking at the real thing.
And while I’m writing, can anyone clarify an evasive sentence about the text in David Bradshaw’s Oxford World’s Classics edition? He says that he uses the third impression of the first edition, which, he says, “gave her the opportunity to correct misprints…” But he annoyingly doesn’t say whether she actually made use of that opportunity. I can’t find any other indication that the third impression has any changes. If anyone knows more about this, the world (or at least a very small portion of it) would be grateful to learn it.
