>From a book published in Romania:

“In writing her book, Virginia Woolf also studied lots of documents, as the preface to Orlando clearly shows: she gathered information on the law of real property, Elizabethan music, art and painting and, nonetheless, history.”

This was written by someone who was able on a number of occasions to quote (and presumably understand) Paul Ricoeur: e.g. “the problematic of refiguration must free itself, once and for all, from the vocabulary of reference”.

We must conclude that he’s an easier read than Woolf.
