[Vwoolf] Pangrams in Woolf

Yes, I can't determine when it changed, but the -ize spelling that is the norm in the US used also to be the norm in Britain until relatively recently (i.e. well into the 20th century). It's my impression that VW's books all used the -ize spellings, although I haven't checked all my first editions and would be interested to know if it's not true.
In the UK, -ise is standard but -ize is also used, and is not counted as 'wrong', in the way that 'color' would be (sorry, US, but I'm sure the opposite is true there!). When I'm editing for academic publishers, most of them now ask me to use -ize, presumably so that the books will do for both UK and US markets.

I have the 1st HP edn – and also to be killjoy, I did check – but the z is there.  Now, would anyone like to check "The Doctor's Second Thoughts", from which this quote comes?  That I don’t have. Stuart
