Subject: [Msa-discuss] kevin ohi at modernism seminar, 9/29

Dear Colleagues,

Please join the Modernism Seminar of the Mahindra Humanities Center at Harvard on Thursday, September 29, at 6:00 p.m. to hear Kevin Ohi present:
Abstraction and Embodiment in the Novel:
Virginia Woolf’s Jacob’s Room

The presentation will take place in Warren House, Room 201.
(Warren House is next to the Barker Center on Prescott St., which parallels Quincy St. http://map.harvard.edu/?bld=04122&level=9)

Currently a fellow at the Society for the Humanities at Cornell University, Kevin Ohi is the author of Innocence and Rapture: The Erotic Child in Pater, Wilde, James, and Nabokov (2005); Henry James and the Queerness of Style (2011); and Dead Letters Sent: Queer Literary Transmission (2015). The recipient of fellowships from the National Humanities Center and the Guggenheim Foundation, he is Professor of English at Boston College.

There is free parking near the HHC at the Broadway Garage, on Felton between Broadway and Cambridge Street. Just tell the attendant that you're participating in an event at the HHC. Normally the attendant is welcoming, as long as it's after 5:00 p.m., even if we are erroneously not on the good list.

We hope you'll be able to attend the session, which, as always, includes discussion after the presentation.

Details about the Center, including a calendar of events, are available at: http://www.fas.harvard.edu/~humcentr/<http://www.fas.harvard.edu/%7Ehumcentr/>

Fall 2016 Speakers:

October 13 (Location TBA): Ravit Reichman (Brown University), "Modernism’s Conditions of Ownership: From Forster and Bowen to Marie Kondo"

November 8 (Barker 133): Octavio González (Wellesley College), "Masochism and Narrative Mood in Jean Rhys’ Quartet: '[A] lack of solidity and of fixed background'"

Best wishes,
