Pub Quiz question.

Who was the first UK woman MP?

No, not Lady Astor, as per the Time Chart. She was the first UK woman MP *to take her seat*.

The first woman MP to be *elected* was Countess Markievicz, but, as she was Sinn Féin, she did not take her seat. (Sinn Féin MPs in N. Ireland still don’t take their seats at Westminster.)

I should have made clear that Lucy London’s special interest is women poets of the Great War—not only in the UK but all over the world.

Her work can be accessed at http://femalewarpoets.blogspot.com/

This modern literature time chart was sent to me by Lucy London, a most helpful woman in England, who is working on women and the Great War and she gave me leave to pass it along.

Looking forward to meeting and greeting many of you at the IVW Conference in June--
