*Bryan's Dictionary of Painters and Engravers* dated 1904 lists the
double portrait as the work of the artist, Cornelius Neve.

*Cornelius De Neve* (1612?-1678?)

Cornelius de Neve, portrait painter, is first recorded in a list of members
of the Dutch church in London in 1594. Cornelius de Neve, portrait painter,
lived in London with his Dutch father. When his father died, his stepmother
married John de Critz the younger. In 1627 the Painter-Stainers' Company
unsuccessfully attempted to prosecute de Neve along with other foreign
artists for failing to obey the company's ordinances.
