Dear Woolfians,

I'm hoping that somebody can help me track down an essay on The Voyage Out
that I read a few years ago. I’m not sure whether it appeared in an
academic journal or as a book chapter and cannot remember who wrote it.
However, the article criticised the long “historical” account of the
imaginary former English colony of Santa Marina given by the narrator while
Rachel, Mrs Ambrose and Mr Pepper are approaching the shore after leaving
the Euphrosyne. The author of the essay claimed that this part of The
Voyage Out should have been cut, on account of it being quite lengthy and
having nothing to do (it was felt) with the rest of the novel.

Has anybody come across this essay? Your help would be greatly appreciated.
Please reply on or off list to p.muscogiuri at gmail.com

Many thanks,

Patrizia Muscogiuri
