*1) NSF Partnerships for Research and Education in Materials (PREM)**:* A
revised RFP has been released (
http://www.nsf.gov/funding/pgm_summ.jsp?pims_id=5439). From the program
synopsis:

The objective of PREM is to broaden participation and enhance diversity in
materials research and education by stimulating the development of formal,
long-term, multi-investigator, collaborative research and education
partnerships between minority-serving colleges/universities and the NSF
Division of Materials Research (DMR) supported centers, institutes, and/or
facilities.

Funding is for up to $700,000/year for up to 5 years. Proposals are
submitted by the minority-serving institution, with a co-PI from the
DMR-funded center. Full proposals are due October 25.
