[Prep Lab Students] Tuesday, August 19th

Greetings,

Tuesday window people: Bella and Kaitlin, please be here by 8:00 am. We’d like to get the labs unlocked by 8:15. The TAs will start by 8:30. Lab manuals and goggles are in the lab rooms. Barrels for goggle package waste are in the hall.

Everyone else, we look forward to seeing you at 9:00am in 205 Celeste (the middle space on the second floor). Please come prepared to go into the lab (long pants, closed to and back shoes, etc.). We’ll begin by completing a couple of scavenger hunts to better acclimate everyone to our spaces and modifications we planned over the summer.

After a break, we’ll have a “lunch and learn” featuring Costco’s finest pizza! We’ll provide small bottles of water, but if you’d prefer anything else to drink, please plan accordingly. We’ve also got some small prizes to give away!

We’ll end our afternoon with snacks a presentation from Dr. Moore on safety items specific to working in the prep lab and gen chem teaching labs.

A few notes:

Those of you that are on the payroll now should be logging your hours in Workday. If you see two positions for the Prep Lab, you want to log hours under the one with a (+). The extra one should go away soon.

The "Fire Extinguisher 2025" training module is not currently setup to be retaken. This should only affect the folks that have taken it this calendar year. If you are in that boat, stay tuned for more info on the plan there.

We expect everyone currently hired to complete the training and orientation items mentioned in my email from this morning.
