[Prep Lab Students] Weather

Hi Everyone,

There is a potential for severe weather tonight and into tomorrow morning. While this is likely to occur outside of working hours, I want to remind everyone what to do in the event of a severe weather emergency while on campus.

Remember, a tornado watch means that conditions are favorable for tornadoes to develop, but one has not been confirmed. A tornado warning means a tornado has been spotted or detected by radar, and immediate action should be taken to seek shelter.

Every building on campus has a Building Emergency Action Plan, BEAP. You have completed an online training about these at some point this academic year. Consider reviewing section 6.13 “Severe Weather Emergencies” of the BEAP for any buildings you may be visiting soon.

If a tornado warning is issued, and you are in Celeste:
Do not wait for instructions. Equipment in use should be turned off. Labs should evacuated & locked. Everyone should proceed to the basement and wait in the hallways. If the weather service allows the tornado warning to expire, this will serve as your all-clear.

As a reminder, we will plan to have lab as long as the University stays open. This means that everyone scheduled to be present will be expected to report to their assigned shifts.
