Smith Lab Item Retrieval Concerns

Hello Everyone!

It has come to our attention that some people are wanting to come to campus to retrieve personal and work related items. You all know, by now, that there are procedures in place for gaining permission for such actions.

It is important to recognize, however, that there are people actively working in the Smith Lab introductory lab spaces and equipment storage areas. Currently Harold Whitt and Katie Ferrell are regularly working with instructors to record material for the introductory courses. Due to the instructors being on camera, they will be unable to wear masks during filming. In order to film safely, we are cleaning and sanitizing all equipment for the process and, importantly, keeping strict control over who can access the rooms and equipment.

For the instructors safety, as well as yours and those involved in the recording sessions, we ask that you contact Harold and Katie if you want to recover anything from the following rooms and adjacent stockrooms :

SM0006, SM 0120, SM0009, SM1112, SM1077, SM2157, SM2193, SM2005, SM2012, SM2017, SM2024, SM2052, SM2076, SM2077, SM2082

These rooms are associated with the introductory courses and storage areas. We are trying diligently to monitor all activity that is going on in them so that we can provide a safe working environment for all involved.

If you have any items you would want from any of the rooms listed above, please do not enter any of these rooms. Contact Harold and Katie and they will arrange when and how items will be retrieved. The sign up form for Smith entry does not include these rooms, and we ask that you recognize this and not assume that permission to enter Smith provides permission to enter these protected spaces.

We appreciate your understanding and hope everyone is well!

Thank you,

Tom Gramila and the Intro Lab Folk...
