COVID-19: Fwd: Restricted Building Access

   Dear all,

      The Dean asked that I forward the letter from the VP for Facilities Operations and Development (FOD). As was anticipated, the PRB is now locked.  At this time, I believe those with swipe access to the building (most of you) still have this access.  Nonetheless, as described in other directives, everyone should be working from home.  Only individuals performing essential maintenance on laboratory or safety equipment should be entering PRB. Those individuals are requested to perform their tasks with efficiency and then depart the building.  Undergraduate workers are not permitted to carry out these tasks.  I am requesting that individuals carrying out these tasks notify Phil Davids and Mark Reed by email.

     You will note that this impacts deliveries to the department.  For future deliveries it is permissible to have these shipped to your home address, if appropriate.  Please carefully consider any safety issues with this approach. For these cases, please add a short noted to your eRequest: "Due to Coronavirus (COVID-19) building closure, shipment is to home.”

Restricted Access – Academic and Administrative Buildings

Beginning on Thursday (3/19), all Columbus campus academic and administrative buildings will change to restricted access by having exterior doors locked. We are taking these additional steps to support the safety and security of the university community as well as the requirement that all employees who can do so work from home. The Department of Public Safety will perform additional building checks during this time.

In the limited circumstances that your work requires you to access a locked facility, please utilize keycard access entrances, if available. For locked buildings, packages and deliveries from Ohio State’s Stores and Receiving will be temporarily held. Orders from outside vendors, including those being delivered by the U.S. Postal Service, will be returned unless alternate arrangements are made by the recipient.

Anyone with questions regarding work arrangements should contact their dean, academic advisor, senior leader or manager. All questions about facility maintenance or access should be directed to Service2Facilities by calling 614-292-4357<tel:614-292-4357>.
