Microsoft Office 365 upgrade for Physics Computers (Word, Excel...) on July 20th

Hello Physics,

I hope you're all doing well!

We must perform some computer software maintenance in preparation for fall semester.

As part of this, we will be upgrading our Physics computers, to use the latest Microsoft Office 365 applications.
Some of our computers are already running Office 365 applications, and those should be unaffected. Computers still running old Office 2016 are the primary target.

Physics computers will automatically begin their upgrade to Office 365 on or after July 20th. EXCEPT: instructional labs, classroom computers (scheduling/testing/coordination in progress).
If you want to upgrade to Office 365 immediately, it is available in Software Center app (on Windows) and in Self-Service app (on Macs). Look for "Microsoft Office 365 Single-User".

This update will include research/instrument computers, unless they are already disconnected from the network, or have software update exceptions in place.
This update does not require a reboot.
Please send us a message action at physics.osu.edu<mailto:action at physics.osu.edu> if you have any concerns about this update on any OSU-owned computer. I can delay this update from going to any specific computers, upon request. You must notify us by end of day this Friday the 17th, in order to opt-out of this specific update push.

The most notable change is that in order to use Microsoft Office programs, you may be required to authenticate with your OSU credentials. This is now becoming a necessity for licensing reasons.
