[ALERT] Minor Hammer Drilling in PRB Next Week - 1st Floor - South End

As part of installation efforts related to the new helium recovery system, contractors will be doing some hammer drilling early next week.

This work will include drilling 1/2" dia. anchor bolt holes into the floor of the future gas collection room 1101C.

These anchor points will secure rack systems that hold the medium pressure gas tanks and the ambient pressure gas collection bags that are part of the new system.

The attached PDF shows the work zone on first floor and a projection of this zone to the floors above and below.

Occupants may notice noise or very minor vibrations above, below, or adjacent, to the work zone.

Drilling will be intermittent and will take place according to the pace of the rack installation work on Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday of next week.

Labs who are concerned about vibration can contact the facility team to obtain a more precise time for drilling.

It is expected that this work will have no significant impact and will be largely unnoticed by most occupants.

However, labs with high sensitivity to any level of vibration should plan accordingly.

Flexibility exists to reschedule this work if any high-sensitivity lab campaign currently underway requires a delay.
