ALMA Proposal workshop

Dear Colleague,

ALMA is a major US national facility in mm-wavelength, doing science on planet formation, galaxy evolution, cosmology, and everything in between. In advance of the upcoming proposal call, you are cordially invited to an ALMA proposal workshop at the University of Toledo, happening on March 29, 2019. This event is designed for all astronomers and physicists (including graduate students!), and in particular, for those who do not regularly use radio data in their research but might be interested in using ALMA or another NRAO facility. Even if you have attended an ALMA Community Day in the past, please feel free to come along and learn about the new capabilities for this year.

This one-day workshop will provide an overview of ALMA’s capabilities, a brief discussion on mm-interferometry fundamentals, and an overview of the proposal preparation and submission processes. In the afternoon, there will be hands on tutorial sessions to use ALMA observing tool to create proposals, and to use CASA software to create observing simulations. Note that this workshop will be held in about 3 weeks before the ALMA Cycle 7 deadline.

Registration is free and lunch will be provided for registered participants. Registrations prior to March 22nd are greatly appreciated. Please feel free to let your colleagues at neighboring institutions to know about the event; as they are also welcome to attend.
