If you do not employ work study student(s) - Please disregard this message.
Hello work-study Supervisors!
This is a reminder that the last day work-study students can work for the 2018-2019 academic year is Saturday, April 27<https://sfa.osu.edu/jobs/jobs-form-files/Work-Study%20Calendar%20FY19.pdf>. That's the end of this week! If your students aren't set up to earn work-study for summer, any hours they work after 4/27 will be charged to the department.
Failed Eligibility: Cap Test
It's that time of year when students are exhausting their funds. If the amount of work-study funding a student has left is not enough to cover the paycheck the student has earned, the entire amount is charged to the department -- this is what the "Failed Eligibility: Cap Test" is referring to. If you have not already explored the option of a work-study fund increase for the student, you may let us know. We cannot promise we can increase the award to cover the earnings in full, but we can review the situation and provide guidance from there. For those of you with eReports access to check work-study balances, the job aid can be found on your resources page<https://sfa.osu.edu/jobs/employer-services/federal-work-study-on-campus-employer/on-campus-employer-resources>.
Don't forget to write letters of recommendation for your graduating seniors before they leave the university.
They may be understandably preoccupied with final exams, the commencement process, and/or may not feel empowered to ask you for this important component of their CV. It's also easier for you to do it now while the student's performance is fresh in your memory. Everyone wins!
The first day of work for students enrolled in summer term is Sunday, April 28<https://sfa.osu.edu/jobs/jobs-form-files/Work-Study%20Calendar%20FY20_No%20Spring.pdf>.
Please refer to the previous listserv email for details regarding hiring students for summer. It has been included below for your convenience.
The Work-Study Job Board for 2019-2020 is now open to the incoming freshman class and currently enrolled students who are attending in summer. You may begin hiring for summer now! Any job referral forms that are downloaded at this point will be for the 2019-2020 academic year.
This should be enough to get you through the transition into summer. Please let me know your plans for your student(s).
Thanks,
Pam
